SHEILA HESSION EARNS PRESTIGIOUS HONORARY COMMANDER ROLE AT JOINT BASE ANDREWS
Sheila Hession, Executive Director of Hotel Sales at MGM National Harbor, is being recognized for an extraordinary milestone. In April 2026, Sheila was inducted as an Honorary Commander at Joint Base Andrews. The Honorary Commander Program is designed to engage and empower community leaders as advocates for the Department of the Air Force and its personnel. Often referred to as “America’s Airfield,” Joint Base Andrews partners commanders with local leaders to build stronger ties between the military and the National Capital Region. Sheila, a ten-year team member who joined the MGM National Harbor in February 2016, also brings more than four decades of experience in the hospitality industry.
MGM NATIONAL HARBOR CELEBRATES EMPLOYEES WHO GIVE BACK
In celebration of National Volunteer Month, MGM National Harbor is honoring some of its team members and departments that have made a meaningful impact in their communities. On April 23, the property hosted its annual Volunteer Appreciation Awards, which recognizes top team members and departments that go above and beyond. In 2025, 508 employees, representing 15.6 % of the workforce, contributed more than 6,400 volunteer hours, bringing the property’s 10-year total to more than 40,000 hours of service.
In addition, 61.6% of employees supported charitable causes financially. Through the MGM Resorts Foundation, and with the support of employees and guests, more than $1.3 million has been awarded in grants to local nonprofits across the region.
