LSU takes home low medalist, ties with Alabama for team honors at Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational at Fallen Oak
14 college teams from across the country play in 54-hole event in Mississippi

BILOXI, Miss. (Oct. 22, 2025) – LSU used a strong three-day outing from Arni Sveinsson and a Monday afternoon rally by Matthew Dodd-Berry to capture individual and share team honors at the 3rd Annual Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational.

Fourteen college teams from across the country competed in the three-day, 54-hole event that also included a college-am round before the tournament, held at Beau Rivage Resort & Casino’s Fallen Oak, the Tom Fazio-designed championship course.

Alabama earned its share of the title by playing steady golf on Saturday and Sunday, then surging ahead on Monday with a team total of 16-under to lead down the stretch, led by William Jennings, who finished second individually with a 12-under par score for the tournament, along with Max Herendeen of Illinois.

‘We played really well the first two days,” said Alabama coach Jay Seawell. “LSU just played really great golf. We had a meeting (Sunday) night and said ‘Just keep playing.’ “

The LSU Tigers led the team and individual leaderboards going into Monday’s final round with Dodd-Berry in the lead after a strong 9-under par round on Sunday. But Sveinsson’s steady play throughout the tournament – including a bogey-free final round -- helped him climb up the rankings as Monday wore on.

But despite a struggle on the front nine, Dodd-Berry rallied at the turn, carding five birdies – including the last three holes – to secure a share of the team title on the 18th green.

“We just won our last two events,” said LSU coach Jake Amos. “The guys are kind of in a rhythm right now. We played so well the first two days. We kind of knew we needed to be on it today. We came off slow and fell way back a little bit, but had a pickup at the end. We had a guy who birdies the last three holes to get us a tie for the win… Alabama’s a great team. They played amazing today.”

Sveinsson finished at 13-under par, with Alabama’s William Jennings and Illinois’ Max Herendeen tied for second at 12-under and Dodd-Berry in fourth at 11-under par.

Alabama and LSU tied at a team 32-under par to take top honors, followed by Illinois at 29-under, Arkansas at 18-under and defending champs Ole Miss finishing fifth at 15-under.

One of the more spectacular shots of the day came at No. 9 when Alabama’s Brycen Jones – who finished tied for seventh individually – hit the sand in front of the green. He calmly walked off the distance, then hopped a couple of times in the bunker to get a good read, then holed the shot for a birdie on the par-4 hole.
