“The Giz” strives to revive the rich culture and Washingtonian history, while educating audiences about one of the area’s best kept cultural art forms known as “GO-GO” music. The District of Columbia has a large history in arts and entertainment, within areas such as the historic U St. Corridor; once known as “Black Broadway.”

The main character, Dorothy, also known as “Dottie,” is a shy 21-year-old young lady, born and raised in North Carolina, and on the cusp of attending a local community college. While celebrating her going-away-to-college, she finds herself unfulfilled in life and living a self-imposed sheltered existence. Things change for her when she is caught in a thunderstorm while taking out the trash for her grandmother. She is transported to the mysterious place called Munchkin Land (Prince George’s County, Maryland), where she learns that the only possible way to find her way back home is through the assistance of the powerful wizard named, “The Giz,” who lives in Chocolate City. As she goes searching for him, she’s accompanied by her chaperone “WB” and befriends some creatures who are facing problems in life just like her. Upon their quest, they encounter Evillene, the Wicked Witch of Waldorf. Dorothy inadvertently kills Evillene’s sister, Evermean, and the wicked witch of South East which may become her biggest obstacle in achieving her goal.
