The Conservatory at MGM National Harbor Ushers in Autumn with Vibrant New Display
NATIONAL HARBOR, MD (October 17, 2017) –Celebrating the splendor of fall, The Conservatory at MGM National Harbor’s brilliant new display features a canopy of whimsical falling leaves, bright earth tones and dramatic waterfalls.
Designer Ed Libby’s latest creation, “Falling Water,” evokes visions of peaceful strolls along the Potomac River, visits to the local pumpkin patch and colorful foliage swirling in the crisp fall air.
Guests of The Conservatory will discover three distinct flower beds, each more spectacular than the last. The first, a nod to the waterways of the region, features a breathtaking waterfall that spills into a pond below. At its base are two large acorn topiaries, comprised of over 5,000 spider mums, surrounded by autumn-colored kalanchoes accented by ornamental grasses, Cortina plants and bittersweet vines.
The fall journey continues at the second bed where a magnificent 30-foot tall gold cornucopia rises from a garden of rich orange and yellow blossoms. Complemented by tints of red and green foliage, the cornucopia is filled with traditional fall bounty including patches of pumpkins, gourds, croton plants and fall leaves. A 4-foot-tall brilliant ceramic butterfly is perched atop the display as if waiting to take flight among the large suspended leaves that appear to be dancing in the breeze.
The final display in this kaleidoscope of autumn consists of three trumpet-shaped towers soaring as high as 12 feet. Each is filled with a spectrum of earth-toned leaves, capturing the simplest and purest beauty of the season. A second waterfall spills over the brim of the center tower into a bubbling pond below that is encircled by mums and patches of oversized pumpkins.
The Conservatory at MGM National Harbor is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is complimentary to the public.
