“MGM Springfield had a tremendously successful opening weekend, exceeded our expectations by hosting more than 150,000 visitors in just our first three days. Guests were excited and eager to experience our new resort and be part of our debut weekend. Our hotel and restaurants were fully booked with guests eager to be a part of our historic opening. We hosted our first outdoor concert on our Plaza, with the Dropkick Murphys playing to a sold-out crowd. So many guests took advantage of our free Big E parking and shuttle on opening day that we extended the service through the entire weekend. We appreciate the cooperation of the Springfield Police, Mass State Police, Springfield DPW, and other local agencies that helped make our opening weekend a success. We are also grateful for the hard work and commitment of our dedicated employees and the ongoing enthusiasm and support of the entire Springfield community. We look forward to continuing our debut this coming weekend, welcoming legendary singer, songwriter, musician and producer Stevie Wonder at MassMutual Center on Saturday, September 1.” - Michael Mathis, President and Chief Operating Officer of MGM Springfield
