SPRINGFIELD, MASS. (May 23, 2019) – MGM Springfield is gearing up for the unofficial start of summer with a jam-packed Memorial Day Weekend including the launch of a new outdoor bar, live music throughout the property, a Memorial Day Cornhole Tournament and more.

The holiday weekend kicks off Friday, May 24 at 8 p.m. with the opening of Springfield’s first outdoor bar, The Plaza Bar. Located between the Western Mass News Studios and Top Golf Swing Suite, the alfresco spot will serve beer, wine, cocktails and frozen drinks including cool favorites such as piña coladas, daquiris and margaritas, offered in exclusive MGM Springfield-branded yard cups. In conjunction with the opening of the bar, the first free MGM LIVE show of the season will take place on The Plaza at 9 p.m. with local country music favorite Trailer Trash.

Food Truck Fridays at The Plaza also will take place on Friday, May 24 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., featuring MGM Springfield’s Guac This Way, Man! Buns, Gelato & Espresso, Sun Kim Bop, Crazy Arepas, Sweet Chilis, Holyoke Hummus and Hot Oven Cookies.

On Sunday, May 26, MGM Springfield will host the Memorial Day Weekend Cornhole Tournament on The Plaza, featuring live music, great food and drinks and a grand prize total of $1,780. Tickets to enter the tournament are available on Ticketmaster.com.

Inside the property, Library Hours at Lobby Bar will keep the celebrations going Friday and Saturday, May 24-25, where guests can also enjoy live music along with beer, wine and literary-themed cocktails such as Peter Cottontail, Romeo and Juniper and Gone with the Gin.
