Resort Surpasses $1 Billion in Contributions to Maryland Education Trust Fund Ahead of Sixth Anniversary

08 December 2022

The $1 billion milestone was generated through taxes on gaming revenue, supporting MGM National Harbor’s commitment to providing a positive community impact in Prince George’s County, the state of Maryland and the Washington metropolitan area.

“It seems like yesterday that MGM National Harbor was welcomed into this incredible community and given the opportunity to work alongside and serve the people of Maryland and Prince George’s County,” said MGM Resorts International CEO & President Bill Hornbuckle. “Our company is committed to supporting the future of education throughout the many communities we serve, and we’re honored to have MGM National Harbor contribute more than $1 billion to the Maryland Education Trust Fund. I couldn’t be prouder of the MGM National Harbor team for their incredible efforts the last six years and helping to make a meaningful, positive difference for the community.”

“Here at MGM National Harbor, we have always been focused on positively impacting the lives of our neighbors, team members and guests” said Melonie Johnson, MGM National Harbor President & COO. “Contributing to the Maryland Education Trust Fund in such a substantial way, and in such a short period of time, is a milestone we’re incredibly proud of. It’s been an amazing six years filled with so many successes, and we can’t wait to see what the next six years brings.”

MGM National Harbor has also supported the community through job creation, workforce development, a strong supplier diversity program and financial and in-kind giving to community organizations and local non-profits.
