Seasoned hospitality talent development professional tapped to build workforce of nearly 4,000 at new integrated resort in Maryland
MGM National Harbor, the world-class integrated destination resort, is pleased to announce Logan Gaskill has been appointed to the role of Vice President of Human Resources. He will be the resort’s senior executive responsible for the recruitment and hiring of a workforce of about 3,600 new employees.

In this new role, Gaskill will lead the strategic vision for talent acquisition and development, as well as oversee organizational design and effectiveness, employee engagement and culture, employee relations, and labor relations. MGM’s $1.4 billion new resort on the Potomac River in Prince George’s County, Maryland will employee people in a wide array of jobs, across more than 100 different classifications. By the fifth year of operation, MGM has set a goal to have 50 percent of its jobs on property at National Harbor filled by Prince George’s County residents.

“Logan will play a critical role in recruiting, hiring and training a world-class workforce for MGM National Harbor,” said Lorenzo Creighton, President and Chief Operating Officer of MGM National Harbor. “His work will also be important in helping MGM National Harbor achieve its goals for hiring county residents and employing a diverse workforce. We are delighted to have someone with his strong credentials and passion for the hospitality industry leading our workforce efforts.”

“I have worked in the gaming and hospitality industry for several years, but this is by far the largest and most exciting resort development that I have ever been involved with,” said Gaskill. “I look forward to working together with my colleagues, and in our community with key local organizations, to build a top-flight workforce for a world-class resort. I am confident that we will have the best talent in the area.”
MGM National Harbor will be partnering on its workforce development, training and career preparedness with Prince George’s County Community College, the Economic Development Corporation, Training Source, Melwood, Bowie State, University of Maryland, and the Blind Center, among others.

Gaskill joins the MGM National Harbor team from Harrah’s New Orleans, where he served as Vice President of Human Resources and Community Relations. Previously, Logan was part of the Caesars Entertainment team for four years, working in various human resources capacities, including Director of Human Resources for Harrah’s Philadelphia and executive associate to the Executive Vice President of Human Resources.

Previously, Gaskill served on the Board of Directors for GNO Inc., the economic development organization for the Greater New Orleans area, and the board for Widener University’s School of Business Administration. He holds an M.B.A. degree from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from Morehouse College.

Among Gaskill’s immediate responsibilities are developing the human resources department that ultimately will bring the workforce vision to fruition. The first to join the team is Sarah Dawson, who will serve as Director, Talent Acquisition & Development. She will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of all talent acquisition and workforce development projects, including staffing, and leading innovative recruitment practices and career-mapping planning. Prior to assuming this new position, Dawson was the Senior HR Business Partner at MGM’s Mandalay Bay resort in Las Vegas. Dawson earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Penn State University.

MGM National Harbor expects to ramp up its recruitment and hiring push in the spring of 2016 ahead of its opening in the fourth quarter of 2016 as the newest resort in the MGM Resorts International [NYSE: MGM] portfolio.
