Silver Spring, Maryland (April 5, 2017) – The Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) today announced that Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas was granted accreditation by AZA’s independent Accreditation Commission, making it the only facility of its kind in Nevada.

Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay welcomes OD the sea turtle, its newest family member, following a cross-country journey to Las Vegas that grabbed heartstrings and headlines nationwide. After a standard quarantine period, the estimated 50-year-old, 320-pound rescued sea turtle was officially put on display in the 1.3-million gallon Shipwreck Exhibit at Shark Reef Aquarium this morning.

Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay plunges to new depths with its Dive with Sharks program for scuba-certified hotel guests of Mandalay Bay and THEhotel.
