Jonnie and Mark Houston designing speakeasy and club built on ingenuity displayed at famed Los Angeles hotspots

LAS VEGAS (July 11, 2018) – Houston Hospitality’s Jonnie and Mark Houston, the Los Angeles-based twin brothers opening On The Record at Park MGM New Year’s Eve weekend, have acquired a 1963 Bristol Lodekka double-decker bus to convert into a DJ booth at the speakeasy and club. Positioned in the outdoor space of the 11,000-square-foot venue, this fun and funky take on a DJ booth reflects the level of creativity and entertainment On The Record will bring to the Las Vegas nightlife scene.
Renowned for creating fun, design-driven nightlife experiences at their popular Los Angeles venues, the Houstons build-out and fashion concepts with unique items procured from around the globe. With meticulous period design, they transport guests to a different time and place.
“This DJ booth is inspired by the musical era of the ‘60s, The Beatles and our dad,” said Mark Houston. “And we’re decking out the space to conjure a genuine feeling of nostalgia inspired by different eras; if our dad had a living room in Vegas, this is what it would look like.”
“Being in Las Vegas, we have more space to go bigger with our design concepts,” said Jonnie Houston. “We want to create ‘wow’ moments for our guests.”
Like their Los Angeles hotspots Break Room 86, Black Rabbit Rose, No Vacancy, Good Times at Davey Wayne’s, and La Descarga, among others, On The Record will reflect the Houstons’ signature modern speakeasy atmosphere. Across the casino floor from Park Theater, the three-room venue will feature a functioning record store entry, indoor and outdoor spaces, a world-class cocktail program and an immersive and entertaining hidden club experience propelled by the Houstons’ award-winning interior design.
