Tom-Fazio designed course also earns three Golfweek accolades

31 March 2023

BILOXI, Miss. Just in time for spring, Fallen Oak unveils several course renovations to create a higher-caliber championship golf experience for guests at the Tom Fazio-designed course. The course also recently added to its list of accolades with three recognitions by Golfweek magazine.

Recognized as the Best Course You Can Play in Mississippi, as well as the No. 2 Best Casino Course behind only its sister course Shadow Creek, Fallen Oak’s enhancements ensure the course continues to deliver exceptional challenges to all levels of golfer. The course, available exclusively to guests of MGM Resorts International’s Beau Rivage, also ranks No. 24 in the publication’s nationwide list of the Top 200 Resort Courses.

Guests visiting Fallen Oak this spring, will be greeted to the valet and bag drops area by newly-planted Japanese Yew flanked by Shishi and Leslie Ann Camellias, Lantana and Butterfly Irises creating and enticing color palette that welcomes golfers. A hydrangea garden bordered by river birch trees directs golfers from the parking area up the stairs to the stately clubhouse.

Nearly one mile of new cart path weaves throughout the course’s lush, rolling terrain filled with majestic oaks, pecan groves, magnolias and pine trees. All of the course’s 10 wooden bridges that cross over natural streams and wetlands, have also been reconstructed, and all bunkers have been refurbished.

“During our recent course enhancement project, we refurbished each of our bunkers using Tour Grade Signature Angled sand, which is more forgiving than what was previously used,” said Director of Agronomy Matt Hughes. “Upgrades such as these not only ensure our course is challenging but playable while being aesthetically pleasing as well. Our ever-evolving landscape and course conditions are just a few of the reasons Fallen Oak is consistently ranked among the premier courses in the United States.”

In addition to the changes to the wooded course itself, several “creature comforts” have been added for players, including climate control with air conditioning and heating in all of Fallen Oak’s rest areas. On the driving range, golfers can take a few swings to some of their favorite tunes from new solar powered speakers. Aesthetic and equipment upgrades in the restaurant and kitchen enhance guest experience at Fallen Oak’s 19th hole, which offers breathtaking panoramic views of the 18th green.

Nestled on the edge of the De Soto National Forest, a short drive from Beau Rivage, Fallen Oak was designed to preserve the natural landscape of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The 510-acre, par-72 course offers five sets of tees and strategic play options to challenge golfers of all skill levels. An Acadian-style 12,000-square foot clubhouse features top-level dining and a panoramic view of the 18th hole, as well as the majestic live that gives Fallen Oak its name.

Golf packages consisting of a round of golf and a hotel stay are available year-round. To book a tee time or golf package, visit www.beaurivage.com or call 877.805.4657.
