Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art Extends
Caldonia: Concert and Film Posters from The Ralph DeLuca Collection
Through January 22, 2023
Las Vegas (September 21, 2022) – Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art announced today the extension of its current exhibit, Caldonia: Concert and Film Posters from The Ralph DeLuca Collection, through Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023.
Caldonia features 44 vintage posters marketing performances and films starring African American musicians and acts from the 1920s to the 1970s. Many of the posters exhibited are rare with their historical context being their true value. Collectively the posters highlight the Chitlin’ Circuit—a series of performance venues that gave Black musicians the opportunity to play their music for live audiences.
Named after a love song by Louis Jordan, Caldonia exhibits film posters such as “Cabin in the Sky” (1943) featuring Ethel Waters and Lena Horne; and “St. Louis Blues” (1929), the only cinematic presentation of Bessie Smith. Debuted in New York’s Salon 94, Caldonia includes video footage and examples of the iconic music that shaped American sound.
Caldonia reflects MGM Resorts’ commitment to providing a platform for uplifting underrepresented voices including artists of color, women, and the LGBTQIA+ community.
Caldonia: Concert and Film Posters from The Ralph DeLuca Collection is on view daily at Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art through January 22, 2023 from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Last admissions are sold 30 minutes prior to closing.
Tickets are $18 for adults; $15 for Nevada residents; and $15 for seniors 65 and older, students, teachers and military with a valid ID. Children 5 and younger are free.
