Songwriter and guitarist, Graham Russell and vocalist, Russell Hitchcock met in 1975 and quickly gained a reputation for great harmonies and for original songs that Russell was constantly writing. Before joining CBS Records in Sydney, the group released two songs “Love and Other Bruises” and “If You Knew Me,” and joined CBS Records in Sydney. After joining the label, they made a record Life Support, including “Lost in Love” which went to Top 10 in Australia.

The group later met Clive Davis and signed to Arista Records where, “Lost in Love” became the fastest selling single in the world with more than ten million copies sold worldwide. Their second single, “All Out of Love” also leaped to the top of all of the charts. Seven top-five singles later, the albums Lost in Love, The One The You Love Now & Forever and The Greatest Hits sold an more than 20 million copies.

The trademark sound of Hitchcock’s soaring tenor voice and Russell’s simple yet majestic songs created a unique sound that would forever be known as Air Supply. The duo was the first Western group to tour China, Taiwan and countless other countries that before would not allow pop music across their borders. In 1983 the group recorded “Making Love Out Of Nothing At All” by Jim Steinman which solidified the group as a permanent force in modern music. This song was released on The Greatest Hits album which soared past seven million copies.

In 1988, the group was asked to participate in Australia’s bicentennial celebration and to play for HRH Prince Charles and HRH Princess Diana, where they learned both were already ardent fans. This engagement would be one of their most treasured moments in their career. The following year The Earth Is album was released selling over one million copies outside of the U.S. This album was followed by The Vanishing Race that included singles, “Goodbye” and “It’s Never Too Late,” saw multi-platinum success. The following albums, News from Nowhere, Yours Truly and Across the Concrete Sky all gave their second greatest hits album multi-platinum status as the band traveled the world each year.

In May 2010, the long-awaited album Mumbo Jumbo, the duo’s first studio recording in eight years, was released. Among the 14 tracks the first single “Dance With Me,” which earned them a prominent feature article in Billboard Magazine titled “Still Supplying The Hits After 35 Years.”
