Brave a Shave and Raise Funds for Childhood Cancer Research Efforts
LAS VEGAS (Feb. 10, 2020) – For more than a decade, New York-New York Hotel & Casino has rallied the local community in the fight against childhood cancer, raising more than $2.5 million for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. On Saturday, March 7, the 11th Annual St. Baldrick’s Day head-shaving event will return to the iconic Brooklyn Bridge from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, including how to sign up to brave the shave, visit StBaldricks.org.
While hundreds of volunteers take the stage throughout the day to shave their heads and raise funds for childhood cancer research efforts, friends, family and passersby can enjoy entertainment and activities for all ages on the Brooklyn Bridge and snap a selfie with some of the city’s most celebrated names in entertainment, public figures and sports team mascots who will be lending a steady hand as celebrity head shavers and emcees.
“St. Baldrick’s has become one of New York-New York’s most anticipated events of the year for staff and guests alike,” said Cynthia Kiser Murphey, President and Chief Operating Officer at New York-New York Hotel & Casino. “The funds raised at this event go directly to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation’s efforts to fund research cures for childhood cancers, so the volunteers who come out to fundraise and brave the shave are truly helping save lives.”

St. Baldrick’s coordinates its signature head-shaving events worldwide where participants collect pledges to shave their heads in solidarity with kids with cancer, raising money to fund research. Since 2005, St. Baldrick’s has awarded more than $127 million to support lifesaving research, making the Foundation the largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants.
