MGM Springfield Unveils Winter Wonderland With Figure Skating Icon Nancy Kerrigan on November 23
“Holidays at MGM Springfield” to Feature Ice Rink and Holiday Marketplace
SPRINGFIELD, MASS. (November 7, 2018) – It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and MGM Springfield is creating new traditions as it transforms into a winter wonderland with “Holidays at MGM Springfield,” beginning Friday, Nov. 23.
Kicking off the festivities at 1:45 p.m., U.S. National Figure Skating Champion Nancy Kerrigan will welcome guests to MGM Springfield’s inaugural holiday celebration and to the spacious Ice Rink at MGM Presented by Mercedes-Benz of Springfield. Guests are invited to enjoy complimentary ice skating until 10 p.m. that evening.
Once the sun has set, MGM Springfield’s Plaza will light up the night sky with a community tree lighting at 7 p.m. The festive ceremony will feature a 38-foot tall LED holiday tree that will display a spectacular light show set to beloved holiday music. After the tree is lit, Santa Claus, the man of the hour, will be on hand for photos with kids of all ages.
“As we head into our first winter holidays here at MGM Springfield, we hope to celebrate the joy and happiness of the season with the entire community,” said Alex Dixon, general manager of MGM Springfield. “We’ve planned a variety of activities and offerings certain to spread holiday cheer to everyone, right here in the heart of Springfield.”
Throughout the holiday season, jolly tunes and twinkling lights will lead guests to Kringle’s Christmas Emporium, a seasonal marketplace filled with Kringle Candle Company’s best-selling candles, holiday figurines, toys, cashmere scarves and more. The marketplace will offer one-stop shopping for holiday gift lists, including a custom perfume and cologne station through Kringle’s newest personal fragrance line, “LabLove!”
From cheerful holiday décor on The Plaza to brightly lit ornaments displayed across Armory Square, MGM Springfield will sparkle as the ultimate winter wonderland experience for everyone in the family.
“Holidays at MGM Springfield” will be open daily starting November 23, 2018.
The Ice Rink at MGM Presented by Mercedes-Benz of Springfield will run from Friday, Nov. 23 to Sunday, March 3. The Ice Rink’s hours of operation are Monday – Thursday, 2 p.m. – 9 p.m., Friday, 2 p.m. – 10 p.m., Saturday, 12 p.m. – 10 p.m. and Sunday, 12 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Skating rates are $8 for children, $12 for adults and $8 for M life rewards members, veterans and military and first responders. Ice skate rentals are also available for $5 a pair.
