Talented Roster of Design & Architectural Firms Tapped to Create Engaging Entertainment & Resort Experience
SPRINGFIELD, MA (December 21, 2017) - MGM Springfield has announced the lineup of design and architectural partners behind the $960 million integrated resort currently under development in Downtown Springfield. MGM Resorts Design & Development will collaborate with some the most innovative firms in the hospitality industry, including Marshall Moya Design, Bishop Pass and Studio McCormack, among others. Slated to open on August 24, 2018, MGM Springfield will introduce an engaging and entertaining hospitality experience that will appeal to visitors from throughout the region.

"Our overall vision embodies the city’s rich history while simultaneously developing Downtown Springfield into a true entertainment destination," said Michael Mathis, president of MGM Springfield. "Understanding the complexities of a landmark project like this, we carefully selected design partners who shared our sensibilities and will transform MGM Springfield into an entertainment beacon for the Commonwealth."
MGM Springfield’s interior will reflect the destination’s heritage in the heart of Western Massachusetts. Channeling inspiration from the brilliant minds and industrial behemoths that shaped Springfield as a hub of arts and innovation, MGM Springfield’s design will celebrate the region’s past while sparking a new sense of curiosity and wonder. Preserving much of the city’s iconic buildings, the reimagined architecture will frame whimsical design elements with creative tributes to Dr. Seuss, Emily Dickinson and more.

MGM Resorts Design & Development team will helm the design of the boutique hotel’s 250 guestrooms and suites. The team also will collaborate with firms working on other areas of the resort’s design, including:
  • Avenue Interior Design - The Los Angeles-based firm is charged with designing the hotel’s lobby as well as the property’s Italian restaurant concept.
  • Bishop Pass - Also based in Los Angeles, Bishop Pass is the lead firm for the hotel’s upscale steakhouse and South End Market.
