NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. – MGM National Harbor is prepared to deliver the best in entertainment as the resort gets set to open The Theater at MGM National Harbor Thursday, Dec. 15. The 3,000-seat venue at the $1.4 billion resort and casino will become the entertainment epicenter of the Capital Region and the area’s first-of-its-kind to be integrated into a resort. The Theater will host A-list performers and high-profile events – normally reserved for large-scale arenas – in an intimate setting with unrivaled amenities.
The Theater will embrace the market’s rich diversity while offering a variety of events that will appeal to a wide array of audiences. A destination in and of itself, The Theater will allow locals and tourists to build their visits around the exciting shows and incorporate that component into their overall resort experience. As the most highly anticipated addition to the region’s entertainment assets, The Theater will attract new events to the market, enhancing value to the DMV’s tourism industry.
“Entertainment is in the DNA of an MGM Resorts International experience and MGM National Harbor will be no different. The Theater gives us another opportunity to show the market the best-in-class programming we deliver, along with exceptional amenities that will elevate the region’s entertainment offerings,” said General Manager of MGM National Harbor Bill Boasberg. “The venue will be the leading entertainment destination in the DMV region while introducing guests to yet another one-of-a-kind experience only available at our resort.”
The Theater will host events including special engagements by Bruno Mars, Ricky Martin, Sting, Boyz II Men, Lionel Richie and Kings of Leon; multiple engagements from music legend Cher, whose only other shows in 2017 will be at Park Theater in Las Vegas; comedy shows from funny men Jim Gaffigan and Sebastian Maniscalco; UFC; cabaret-style acts and boxing events, among many others.
With the intimacy, scale and flexibility of The Theater, there’s not a bad seat in the house, leaving guests with unprecedented access to their favorite artists and special events. It will feature reconfigurable seating options that deliver prime sightlines, along with advanced telescopic seating allowing for custom arrangements for each event. Possible options include a traditional concert layout to a 360-degree configuration for boxing. The capacity for reserved-seating events will be 3,000 with the ability to host nearly 4,000 guests for general admission shows.
The Theater is home to seven VIP suites giving event-goers the view of a lifetime. Guests also will enjoy VIP amenities including a private suite entrance, a VIP lobby featuring a full-service bar and stylish décor, personalized catering offerings and more. The Theater’s three center suites can be combined into one to create the ultimate party destination for up to 200 guests.
Taking it beyond a typical dinner and a show, guests of The Theater will be able to experience MGM National Harbor’s stunning amenities. Whether it’s feasting at a celebrated chef eatery, staying in a luxury suite or strolling through MGM National Harbor’s public fine art collection, the resort will allow event-goers to create the ultimate night on the town.
