Bonamassa will embark on new spring tour in support of his latest studio solo album, Blues of Desperation (J&R Adventures) beginning February 2017. Backed by a stellar band of legendary musicians including Anton Fig (drums), Michael Rhodes (bass), Reese Wynans (piano, Hammond organ), Lee Thornburg (trumpet, horn arrangements) and Paulie Cerra (saxophone), the tour will showcase new songs alongside career-spanning favorites.
Since its release, Blues of Desperation has been called “a blues rock album of epic proportions” by Goldmine Magazine, who also said “Bonamassa seems to be able to walk into a room, pick up a guitar and effortlessly create the best album of his career.” Relix said of Bonamassa, “as one who can both rock and wail, there’s no one better.”
Bonamassa once again shattered expectations when Blues of Desperation debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Blues Chart, making it his 17th No. 1 Blues album on the Billboard charts – more than any other artist in history. The album also hit No. 5 on the Billboard Top Album Sales, which is his highest charting one to date.
A touring monster who averages about 100 shows a year, Bonamassa’s progression as a showman grows stronger every year. After performing sold-out shows at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheater and Radio City Music Hall in New York City, he fulfilled one of his lifelong dreams earlier this year with two intimate acoustic performances at the prestigious Carnegie Hall which were filmed for a future DVD and Public TV release.
