TICKETS FOR UFC® 182: JONES vs. CORMIER
AT MGM GRAND GARDEN ARENA – LAS VEGAS
ON SALE FRIDAY, NOV. 21
LAS VEGAS – The bad blood between UFC® light heavyweight champion Jon Jones (20-1, fighting out of Endicott, N.Y.) and two-time Olympian Daniel Cormier (15-0, fighting out of San Jose, Calif.) has brewed for months, with the two trading heated words through the press and social media. But all differences will be settled once and for all in a five-round main event championship bout at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, January 3.
Jones looks to extend his historic reign over the stacked 205-pound division, as he attempts a record eighth title defense when he takes on his bitter rival. However, Cormier, a former STRIKEFORCE®
Grand Prix champion and the current No. 2 contender, poses one of his most formidable tests to date with a wrestling ability that may be the best in all of MMA.
In addition, No. 4 contender Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone
(25-6, 1 NC, fighting out of Albuquerque, N.M.) will meet eighth-ranked and undefeated Myles Jury
(15-0, fighting out of San Diego, Calif.) in a lightweight showdown that could change the landscape of the division. Cerrone, one of the most devastating strikers in the division, will need to be firing on all cylinders against Jury, who has the ability to finish the fight anywhere it goes. Both of these men look to continue their current win streaks in pursuit of UFC gold.
Also, Cuban Olympic judoka Hector Lombard
(34-4-1, 1 NC, fighting out of Coconut Creek, Fla.) puts his No. 6 welterweight ranking on the line against Josh Burkman
(27-10, fighting out of Salt Lake City, Utah), who is making his return to the Octagon®
. Having compiled an impressive record outside of the organization, Burkman is back and looking to send shockwaves throughout the division.
Other bouts for UFC 182 include:
No. 15 Brad Tavares
(12-4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nev.) meets former STRIKEFORCE champion Nate Marquardt
( 36-13-2, fighting out of Denver, Colo.) in a battle of talented middleweights.
Lightweight grappling specialists square off as No. 15 Rustam Khabilov
(17-2, fighting out of Albuquerque, N.M.) faces Danny Castillo
(17-7, fighting out of Sacramento, Calif.).
Hard-hitting flyweights are set to meet as No. 12 Kyoji Horiguchi
(14-1, fighting out of Tokyo, Japan) faces No. 14 Louis Gaudinot
(7-3, fighting out of Hoboken, N.J.).
Heavy-handed Shawn Jordan
(16-6, fighting out of Baton, Rouge, La.) takes on undefeated Jarod Cannonier
(7-0, Anchorage, Ala.) in a heavyweight contest.
13-fight UFC veteran Evan Dunham
(14-6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nev.) meets submission ace Rodrigo Damm
(12-8, fighting out of Vila Velha, Brazil) at lightweight.
