MGM Grand Detroit Brings Sphinx 3D™ Slot Machine to Casino Floor
DETROIT, November 5, 2014 – MGM Grand Detroit announced today it has installed GTECH’s Sphinx 3D™ slot machine on its casino floor. The game was unveiled last year at the Global Gaming Expo and quickly received numerous innovation and gaming experience awards.
The new game provides a three-dimensional experience without the need for special eyewear. This is accomplished with autostereoscopic technology designed specifically for GTECH. In addition to providing a great level of depth and image resolution while maintaining full clarity and adding a new level of realism, the eye-tracking system detects the player’s position, allowing the picture on the screen to match their line-of-sight.
“This is truly some pretty cool technology. The color, brightness, and 3D depth must be experienced to be believed. The images and personalization it provides a player is remarkable!” said Troy Hammie, Vice President, Slot Operations at MGM Grand Detroit. “It excites us to see the player reaction to that unique 3D experience. It’s now a part of a great mix of slot machines on our casino floor.”
The Egyptian-themed game has five reels and 30-lines with seven bonus rounds, two in the base game and five, Ramosis, Diamonds Chamber, Stars Progressive, Ancient Wheel and Wild Scarab, in the Sphinx Bonus selection.
Three Sphinx symbols in the base game trigger the Sphinx Bonus selection, which have unparalleled 3D visual effects, where the higher the bet, the bigger the selection of bonuses to choose from.
The game comes on the new AXXIS™ cabinet, which has a 23-inch widescreen LCD display that sits beneath a 39-inch portrait LCD cabinet with full HD resolution. The console is topped with the illuminated Sphinx head, themed slot panels, ambient lighting and captivating audio. The multimedia chair has an ergonomic design with player-focused sound and movement effects.
MGM Grand Detroit was recently named “Best Casino in Detroit” by Hour Detroit magazine and “Best Casino in Michigan” by Michigan Meetings and Events.
