Mandalay Bay Appoints Matthew Chilton General Manager of Delano Las Vegas

In his new position, Matthew will bring Delano Las Vegas’ intimate experience to life with an unrivaled level of personalization in an environment defined by understated luxury, sophistication and style.
Matthew has been in the hospitality industry for nearly two decades and joined Mandalay Bay as Hotel Manager prior to the resort’s 1999 grand opening. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Hotel Operations and played a significant role in the property-wide transformation which included the introduction of Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil, Kumi Japanese Restaurant + Bar By Akira Back, Citizens Kitchen & Bar, Rx Boiler Room, DAYLIGHT Beach Club, LIGHT Nightclub and the remodel of Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas.
“Matthew is a veteran of the Las Vegas hospitality industry and his extensive experience will be a tremendous asset to our collaboration with Morgans Hotel Group to introduce Delano Las Vegas,” said Chuck Bowling, president and COO of Mandalay Bay.
Born in New York and raised in Las Vegas, Matthew credits his upbringing for his early interest in the hotel industry. Matthew’s first job at the age of 15 was running the nickel arcade at Gold Strike and Nevada Landing and he spent college summers working at Excalibur and Treasure Island. Matthew attended The Meadows School and earned a bachelor’s degree in cultural anthropology from University of California, San Diego, where he was a four-year member of the national-title-winning men’s soccer team.
After graduating in 1996, Matthew began his career at The Mirage and Treasure Island and in 1998, joined the soon-to-open Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino where he held several management positions and saw the resort through the grand opening of THEhotel, Convention Center and Shark Reef Aquarium.
Matthew took a brief hiatus from the hotel industry in 2010 to direct operations for Spectrum Group International, a Fortune 500 global trading and collectibles network specializing in precious goods. The following year, Matthew returned to Mandalay Bay as Vice President of Hotel Operations – a role he held since November 2011.
