Community celebration kicks off Biloxi Shuckers opening day

The Mississippi Gulf Coast will celebrate the Biloxi Shuckers first home game on Saturday, June 6, with a day-long community-wide celebration. Biloxi Main Street’s Game Day Experience presented by Beau Rivage will take place from 1 to 6 p.m. downtown in Biloxi’s Vieux Marche.
Billed as the ultimate tailgate party for the thousands of fans expected to attend the first Shuckers game in MGM Park, the Game Day Experience will feature autograph-signing sessions with the Shuckers players, coaches and ownership, as well as representatives of the Milwaukee Brewers. There will be special drawings for team memorabilia and game tickets, and special guests will be recognized in honor of Biloxi’s long baseball history.
The event is open to the public free of charge, and will include baseball-themed activities and live entertainment. There will be baseball and softball batting cages, a radar gun to check pitch velocity, a whiffle ball home run derby contest, and a special area for children’s games.
The event stage will be located between Merit Medical Biloxi, formerly Biloxi Regional Medical Center, and Howard Avenue. Beau Rivage will have a large tent next to the event stage and offer complimentary activities for the entire family. There will be games for kids, including an oversized connect four and a ladder rope toss, face painting, snow cones, give-aways and music from DJ Avelon. A photo opportunity will be set up with a professional photographer and a large prize wheel will be accessible for fans to take a spin for a variety of great prizes.
The Beau Rivage culinary team will also offer a selection of food and beverage for purchase including Coast BBQ Nachos, Deep Fried Oyster Shuckers sandwich, Biloxi Crawfish Roll and the signature Shucker Pucker drink made with fresh squeezed lemon & watermelon juices, mint and rock candy syrup.
“Beau Rivage is pleased to be the presenting sponsor of Main Street Biloxi’s Game Day Experience,” said George P. Corchis, Jr., president and COO of MGM Resort International’s Southern Operations. “What better way to welcome our new team than do what we do best – throw a party! We encourage baseball fans everywhere to come out and be part of this fun and historic day.”
After the Biloxi Shuckers 7:10 p.m. game against the Mobile BayBears, Beau Rivage will host a post-game party in Coast. Beau Rivage will also broadcast the opening game, as well as all Shuckers games this season, in Coast, for those that don’t have tickets to the game, but still want to watch the action.
