Eighth Annual Moonlight & Magnolias to Benefit South Mississippi Red Cross, August 22

Fundraiser promises unforgettable evening in support of humanitarian aid organization

Eighth Annual Moonlight & Magnolias to Benefit South Mississippi Red Cross, August 22
BILOXI, Miss. (Tuesday, August 11, 2015)—Plans are underway for the Eighth Annual Moonlight & Magnolias signature “Dancing with the Stars” themed fundraiser presented by Beau Rivage Resort & Casino to benefit the American Red Cross of Southeast Mississippi. Festivities begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, in the Magnolia Ballroom at Beau Rivage in Biloxi.
"MGM Resorts and Beau Rivage have been long-time supporters of the American Red Cross," said Mary Cracchiolo Spain, MGM Resorts Mississippi Operations Regional Communications Director and decade-long Red Cross board member. "This will be the eighth consecutive year Beau Rivage has underwritten 100 percent of the costs of this signature event, so that every penny raised will go directly to supporting those in need."

The American Red Cross has responded to disaster areas for more than 130 years, making it the oldest and largest humanitarian aid organization in the world. Over the past year, the American Red Cross of Southeast Mississippi chapter responded to a multitude of flooding and tornado events, as well as victims of more than 600 house fires within the Chapter area and almost 600 Service to Armed Forces cases. And the coming 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina presents another reminder not only of the role the American Red Cross played in Katrina recovery, but the importance of continual disaster preparedness training and of Chapter volunteers and staff being ready for the next big disaster.
“This event is a wonderful way to support our local Red Cross while enjoying an evening of food, fun and entertainment at the beautiful Beau,” said Kimberly Nastasi, 2015 event co-chairperson.
The highlight of the evening will be entertainment by this year’s coast celebrity dancers:
Robyn Smith, Hard Rock Hotel and Casino
Ron Hall, Beau Rivage Resort & Casino
Stephanie Carter, Island View Casino
Jonathan Brannon, WLOX TV
Ellis Branch, Ellis Branch, REALTOR
Roianne Gutierrez, Newman Lumber Co.
Elaine Kulick and her team of professional dancers from Gulf Coast Performing Arts Center are training the coast celebs and will accompany them during their performances.
Last year’s celebrity dancers Dorothy McEwen, Cree Cantrell, Stephanie Williams and Stephanie Barnes Taylor will return as judges for the evening. WLOX’s Carrie Duncan will emcee and musical entertainment will be provided by Cool Rayz.
The Chapter will also honor longtime Red Cross and Gulf Coast community volunteer leader Ramona Peresich as its 2015 Humanitarian of the Year.
