Beau Rivage Resort & Casino Culinary Team Named Grand Champion of Biloxi Seafood Festival Gumbo Championship
Crowd-favorite gumbo also won Sun Herald People's Choice Award
The Beau Rivage Resort & Casino Gumbo Team was named Grand Champion of the Sun Herald Gumbo Championship at the 37th Annual Biloxi Seafood Festival. The team included Beau Rivage’s Executive Chef Kristian Wade, Culinary Arts Program student LaTara Millender, Executive Steward Andy Jeahne, Room Chef Mark Agent and BR Prime Manager Barrett Cobb. The team took home a total of three awards First Place Professional Division, People’s Choice and Grand Champion, and judges selected the winners based off a blind tasting.
The festival celebrates the rich history of seafood in the City of Biloxi. It is also the Biloxi Chamber of Commerce’s largest fundraising event. The public paid a small fee for entry to the gumbo competition to sample the variety of gumbo from competitors, 100 percent of the net proceeds raised went towards the Biloxi Chamber of Commerce’s programs.
